Why a resume gets filtered
An ATS parses your resume into fields and lets a recruiter search the database by keyword, for example "credit risk Mumbai FRM". Two things decide whether you surface: the system has to read your file cleanly, and the terms the recruiter searches for have to actually appear in your resume, in the words the job uses. A strong candidate with a generic resume can lose to a weaker one that simply matches the posting better. The checker measures both, against the specific role, so you are not guessing.
How the checker works
- Paste the job and your resume. Add the job description you are applying to and your current resume.
- Read your ATS score. You get a real score out of 100, a fit band, and a clear read on where you match the role and where you do not.
- Fix it and download. It rewrites your resume for that exact role, and you download it as PDF or Word, ready to send.
The point is not to game the system. It is to make an honest resume read clearly to both the software and the recruiter behind it.
Use the score the right way
A score only means something against a specific job, because it measures the match between your resume and that role. So use it as a before and after: run your current resume, note the gaps it flags on skills and terms the job asks for, then run the rewritten version and watch the gap close. Chasing a high number without a job attached is not useful; closing the gap on a real posting is.
