Kapil Mohan Gupta
Founder and Managing Partner of PeopleCap. He writes the guides and articles on this site, drawn from current practice across financial services and fintech talent in India.
About Kapil
Kapil founded PeopleCap to do for India's financial services firms what specialist boutiques already do in capital markets and private equity: bring hiring and HR judgment built around the specifics of one industry, rather than borrowed from another. The premise is simple. People decisions in a regulated, domain-heavy sector are not the same as people decisions anywhere else, and they are rarely served well by a generalist.
The practice draws on more than a decade of work across financial services talent in India: running mandates, building hiring functions, and advising founders through the stages where a people function is made or broken. Much of what he writes here comes from watching the same failures repeat. Generalist recruiters losing weeks on mandates they did not understand. Offers priced against benchmarks that were stale before they were published. Interview loops designed for one stage of growth quietly breaking at the next. The cost of those patterns is large, spread thin enough to go unnoticed, and almost always paid by the wrong people.
He also operates N53 Techworks LLP, the legal entity behind PeopleCap, and Comet Studio (cometstudio.dev), a product clarity practice for early-stage founders. He is based in Noida and works across India and the GCC.
The writing on this site is his, and it follows one rule: it says what he would tell a client in the room, including when the honest answer is that they do not need us. If something here is useful, or wrong, he would rather hear about it. Reach him on LinkedIn or through the contact page.
