About PeopleCap

We exist to make people decisions easier for financial services firms

PeopleCap is a people advisory practice focused exclusively on financial services and fintech firms in India. We bring together talent acquisition, HR advisory, and workforce intelligence under one roof.

A practice built for one industry

PeopleCap operates as a people advisory practice under N53 Techworks LLP. We are not a general HR consulting firm. We are not a staffing agency. We are a specialist practice that works exclusively with financial services and fintech companies across India.

Our work sits at the intersection of talent, strategy, and operations. When a firm hires us, they are not buying CVs or policy documents. They are buying thinking, judgment, and accountability for outcomes.

We work with HR heads, founders, and functional leaders who are serious about building people capability as a business advantage.

We work with a select group of financial services and fintech firms across India, from established NBFCs to growth-stage fintechs, on mandates where domain understanding matters more than CV volume.

Kapil Mohan Gupta

Founder & Managing Partner

"I built PeopleCap because the firm I would want to hire for a serious financial services mandate did not exist in India. It does now."

Kapil founded PeopleCap to do for India's financial services firms what specialist boutiques already do in capital markets and private equity: bring hiring and HR judgment built around the specifics of one industry, not borrowed from another.

The practice is the result of more than a decade of work across financial services talent in India: running mandates, building hiring functions, advising founders, and watching the same failure patterns repeat themselves. Generalist recruiters losing time on mandates they did not understand. Compensation decisions made on stale benchmarks. Hiring processes designed for one stage of growth being applied at the wrong one. The cost of these patterns is large, distributed, and almost always paid by the wrong people.

PeopleCap exists to refuse those patterns. It works only with financial services and fintech firms in India. It takes on mandates and retainers only where the team is confident it can deliver. And it measures itself by outcomes, placements that hold, processes that work, decisions that compound, rather than by activity volume.

Kapil also operates N53 Techworks LLP, the legal entity behind PeopleCap, and Comet Studio (cometstudio.dev), a product clarity consulting practice for early-stage founders. He is based in Noida, works across India and the GCC, and writes regularly on talent and people strategy for India's financial services sector.

The practice

PeopleCap is a small practice by design. We work with a defined set of clients, take on mandates we are confident we can close, and measure our success by outcomes rather than activity. Engagements are led by the founder and delivered by a small senior team. We do not route work through junior bench resources.

We refuse mandates that fall outside financial services. We cap recruiter workload at six active mandates rather than thirty. We stay engaged with placements through joining and beyond, not just through offer-stage. The discipline is intentional, and the discipline is what makes the work substantive.

The practice operates under N53 Techworks LLP, registered in India under the Limited Liability Partnership Act.

What sets us apart

One industry, deeply understood

Every mandate we run, every benchmark we publish, every retainer we deliver is for a financial services firm. We do not hire for SaaS companies. We do not advise consumer technology firms on HR strategy. The result is pattern recognition that compounds over hundreds of financial services mandates, and judgment a generalist firm cannot build at our scale of specialisation.

Evidence over opinion

Our compensation benchmarks come from this quarter's offer letters, not last year's surveys. Our time-to-fill numbers come from this month's mandates. When we tell you what the market is doing, it is because we are in the market this week, not because we are quoting a report someone else compiled in a different context.

Invested in your outcome

We measure success by placements that hold, retainers that renew, and clients who recommend us to peers. We cap recruiter workload at six active mandates instead of thirty. We stay engaged with placements through joining and the first 90 days, not just through offer-stage. The relationship is the product.

How this practice presents itself

The way PeopleCap looks and reads is a deliberate choice. The site uses an editorial palette, a serif headline face, and almost no photography. There are no stock images of people in glass-walled boardrooms, no hero videos, and no aspirational lifestyle shots.

This is not minimalism for its own sake. The financial services and fintech buyers we work with see twenty recruitment-firm websites in a quarter, and most of them look identical. The decision to look different is also a decision to read different. Our pages carry market observations, current hiring data, and clearly written explanations of what we do and how we charge. The visual restraint is what lets that content come through.

The only photograph on the site is the founder portrait. As the practice grows, additional team portraits will follow the same restrained treatment. We do not anticipate using photography on service, sector, or home pages.

If you are visiting this site as a prospective client, a candidate, or a designer briefed to work with us, the principle to take away is this: the substance is the brand. The layout supports it.

If this resonates

If you are running a financial services firm in India and the way we have described our work resonates with how you are thinking about your people decisions, we should talk. The first conversation has no obligation. We will tell you honestly whether what we do is the right fit for what you need.
