A fintech engineering team in India, built and run as your own

Outpost builds a dedicated engineering team in India for your fintech: payments, banking, lending and ledger engineers, plus the quality, platform and engineering leadership to run them. We employ the team on our payroll in India and run it as a dedicated extension of yours. Because PeopleCap is a specialist financial-services and fintech talent firm, the team is hired against regulated financial context, not stack alone. For fintechs in Europe, the US, the Gulf and beyond.

Fintech engineering is not generic engineering

A payments platform, a lending book, a wallet or a banking core carries weight that a content site does not. Money moves, ledgers have to balance, reconciliation has to hold, and a regulator can ask why. Engineers who have built inside that world make different decisions about idempotency, consistency, auditability and failure than engineers who have not, and the gap does not show up in a stack keyword match. It shows up in the first serious technical screen, and again in production.

That is why a fintech that builds an offshore team through a generalist outsourcer so often ends up with people who can write the language but have never carried the domain. Outpost comes at it from the other side. Finding, assessing and keeping strong financial-services technology people is the whole of what PeopleCap does, so the team you get is hired on the intersection of engineering and regulated financial context, which is exactly where a fintech shortlist is usually won or lost.

The roles we build for a fintech team

A whole team, not a bench of interchangeable contractors: the engineers who build the product and the people who run them.

Payments and core engineering

Backend engineers for payment rails, ledgers, reconciliation, wallets and banking cores, in Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, Node and TypeScript.

Distributed systems and platform

Engineers for high-throughput, consistent, auditable systems, event pipelines, and the platform and DevOps work on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud that keeps them reliable.

Full-stack and mobile

React, Node and TypeScript across the product, and native or cross-platform mobile for the apps your customers and operations teams use every day.

Data, risk and applied AI

Data engineering and analytics, risk and fraud models, and applied AI against your own data, built with the controls a regulated business needs.

Quality engineering and SDET

Test automation and SDETs, so what a payments or lending system ships holds up in production, not just in a demo.

Engineering leadership

An engineering lead or manager who sets standards, grows the team and stays hands-on, plus architecture and product where you need them. Leadership hiring in regulated context is core to what we do.

How the team is built and run

The model is the same one that sits under every Outpost team. We scope the roles, the stack and the seniority with you, then source and assess against that brief, and every candidate arrives with a written assessment so you make the final call on who joins. We put the team on our payroll in India as your employer of record, in a secure workspace, and run it to your roadmap while we carry payroll, HR, retention, security and compliance.

You start with the roles that unblock you and add more as the work grows. If you later want the team inside your own company, build, operate and transfer is the path: prove the team while it is small and the risk is low, then move it across on agreed terms. This is the same discipline as an offshore development centre, pointed at fintech.

A team for fintechs anywhere, built in the right India hub

We build fintech teams for companies worldwide. Payments, banking and software companies across Europe, the Nordics, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States work with us the same way firms across the Gulf do, because the team sits in India either way and shares most of the working day with all of them. Wherever you are based, you get engineers in India without registering a company or learning a country's employment law.

On the India side, no single city is the default. Depending on the stack and the seniority, the strongest team may sit in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Pune or Chennai, each of which holds a deep financial-services and fintech engineering pool. We size the realistic talent and pay picture in the relevant hubs before we recommend where your team should be built, so the location follows the roles rather than the other way around.

One transparent monthly fee per seat

You pay one predictable monthly fee for each seat. It covers the engineer's fully loaded cost and our fee for employing, hosting and running the team, so there is no recruitment commission on top and no margin buried inside an hourly rate. A fully loaded seat typically costs a fraction of an equivalent local hire in Europe, the US or the Gulf, and we price each engagement against your actual roles and seniority, with a clear per-seat number in front of you before you commit.

Common questions

What is a fintech engineering team through Outpost?

It is a dedicated engineering team in India, built for a fintech and working only for it. PeopleCap hires the engineers, employs them on our payroll in India as the employer of record, and runs them as a dedicated team. You set the roadmap and own the work; we carry payroll, HR, retention, security and compliance. It gives a fintech the capability of a captive engineering centre without standing one up, with the option to transfer the team into your own entity later.

Do you build teams for fintechs outside India?

Yes. The team is delivered from India, and we build it for fintechs worldwide. We work with payments, banking and software companies across Europe, the Nordics, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States, and with firms across the Gulf. India's working day overlaps almost entirely with the Gulf, covers most of the European day, and reaches the morning on the US East Coast, so collaboration is live rather than handed over the wall overnight.

How is this different from recruiting a permanent hire through PeopleCap?

Recruitment places a permanent employee on your own payroll, on a success-fee. Outpost builds a team we employ in India as your employer of record, so you get engineers in India without registering an entity there. Both draw on the same specialist financial-services hiring discipline; they differ in who carries the employment and how you engage.

Can you hire an engineering lead or manager, not just engineers?

Yes. We build the whole team, including the engineering management and technical leadership to run it: an engineering lead or manager who can set standards, grow the team and stay technically involved, alongside the backend, full-stack, quality, platform and data engineers around them. Leadership hiring in regulated financial context is core to what PeopleCap does.

Do the engineers understand payments, banking and regulated financial context?

That is the point of building the team through a specialist financial-services talent firm rather than a generalist outsourcer. We hire on the intersection of engineering stack and regulated financial context: payments rails, ledgers and reconciliation, KYC and financial crime, lending and risk. A generalist matches on stack alone, which is where most fintech shortlists fail the first technical screen.

Where in India is the team based?

In whichever of India's technology hubs fits the roles and seniority best: Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Pune or Chennai. We size the realistic talent pool for your stack in each before we recommend where the team should sit. No single city is the default.

Is our financial data secure, and who owns the IP?

PeopleCap is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, with the certificate available on request, and is built for India's DPDP Act, so primary data can rest in India in access-managed environments. All work product and intellectual property is assigned to you by contract, and every engineer signs confidentiality and IP terms before day one. See our trust and security overview.

How much does a fintech engineering team cost?

One transparent monthly fee per seat. It covers the engineer's fully loaded cost and our fee for employing, hosting and running the team, with no recruitment commission on top and no margin buried in an hourly rate. A fully loaded seat typically costs a fraction of an equivalent local hire in Europe, the US or the Gulf. We price each engagement against your actual roles and seniority and give you a clear per-seat figure before you commit.
