Financial Services GCCs in India: A City-by-City Map

This is a working map of global capability centres run by banks, asset managers, insurers and payments firms in India, organised by city. It is not exhaustive and does not try to be; new centres announce every quarter and existing ones expand across cities. It covers the institutions we encounter most often in our searches. Corrections and additions are welcome through our contact page.

A note on what qualifies

We list fully owned centres doing the parent's own work. Third-party delivery centres, joint ventures and build-operate-transfer arrangements still in the operate phase are excluded, for the reasons covered in our captive vs GCC explainer.

Bengaluru

The deepest financial services GCC market in the country, and the most competitive to hire in. Major centres include Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, ANZ, Societe Generale, Northern Trust, State Street, Fidelity Investments, HSBC's technology operations, Swiss Re, and Visa. Bengaluru centres skew toward engineering and technology risk, and increasingly own platforms outright.

Hyderabad

The fastest-growing market of the last five years, driven by newer entrants and second-city expansion. Centres include Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, State Street, UBS, HSBC, Invesco, Franklin Templeton, and Lloyds Banking Group's technology centre. Hyderabad's pitch to institutions has been capacity and cost relative to Bengaluru; its pitch to candidates increasingly resembles Bengaluru's.

Pune

The banking operations and technology stronghold, with several of the largest single-institution campuses in the country. Centres include Barclays, Citi, Deutsche Bank, UBS, BNY, and Mastercard. Pune mandates lean toward platform engineering, risk and finance change, and large-scale operations leadership.

Chennai

A substantial and sometimes underestimated market. Centres include Citi, Standard Chartered, Barclays, Wells Fargo, BNY, NatWest, BNP Paribas, Societe Generale, Fidelity, and PayPal. Chennai has particular depth in banking operations, payments and financial crime functions.

Mumbai

Distinct from the other cities: Mumbai centres sit alongside the institutions' India franchise businesses, which changes both the work and the talent pool. Centres and centre-like operations include Nomura, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, UBS, BNP Paribas, and Citi. Mumbai skews toward middle office, risk, research support and roles adjacent to the markets businesses.

Delhi NCR

Gurugram and Noida host a cluster with a strong insurance and cards flavour. Centres include American Express, NatWest, Ameriprise, Fidelity International, Macquarie, Sun Life, MetLife, and NAB's innovation centre. NCR mandates we run are weighted toward analytics, cards and payments technology, and insurance operations.

Reading the map as an employer

Two practical implications. First, city choice is talent strategy: the same role carries different competition, compensation and notice-period dynamics in each of these markets, and a location decision made on real estate grounds alone tends to get re-litigated eighteen months later. Second, multi-city institutions increasingly run one talent brand across sites, and candidates compare notes across cities faster than internal teams expect. If you want the market mapped properly before a location or expansion decision, that is precisely what our talent intelligence work covers.
