Mobile Engineering Salaries in Indian Fintech

Mobile engineering in fintech is a smaller and stranger market than backend. Junior and mid-level mobile talent is abundant; genuinely senior mobile engineers, people who have owned a consumer financial app through scale, security review and the long tail of device fragmentation, are scarce enough that they behave like a specialist function. Fintech deepens the scarcity because the app is the business: an outage or a broken payment flow is not a degraded experience, it is a trust event. The bands below carry an unusually steep senior premium for exactly that reason.

Compensation by level

Level Fixed pay (INR lakhs)
Mobile Engineer / Senior 16-38
Lead Mobile Engineer 32-68
Head of Mobile / Engineering Manager, Mobile 60-100

City: Bengaluru concentrates the senior consumer-fintech mobile pool, and native depth on payments and security flows carries the clearest premium.

Movement: Senior mobile talent is scarce and consistently employed; team topology and genuine platform ownership decide moves as much as compensation, and the lead band now has to clear published product-company ranges of 46 to 80 lakh CTC for senior iOS and Android leads.

What moves these numbers

Hiring dynamics worth knowing. Cross-platform experience reads differently by segment: consumer fintechs still weight native depth, particularly for payments and security-sensitive flows, while B2B and internal-tool teams accept cross-platform readily, and pay reflects the difference. Senior mobile candidates evaluate offers on team topology as much as compensation; a "mobile team" of two reporting into a backend-led structure signals a maintenance role, and the strongest candidates decline these before pay is discussed. On the searches we close fastest, the client can name what the mobile team decides on its own authority. On the ones that drag, nobody can.

Common questions

Why is senior mobile talent scarcer than senior backend talent?

Career structure. Mobile teams are small, so fewer engineers get the platform-ownership experience that creates seniority, and many strong mobile engineers migrate to backend or full-stack tracks for progression. The survivors are few and consistently employed.

Native or cross-platform: which pays better in fintech?

For consumer fintech, deep native experience still prices at the top, especially on the payments and security side. Cross-platform skills widen options more than they raise the ceiling.

What makes a fintech mobile role attractive enough to close top candidates?

Genuine platform ownership, release autonomy, and visible investment in the app as the product rather than as a channel. Candidates check the last two years of app store release notes before interviews more often than clients expect.

Where these numbers come from

These ranges are our read of the current market for movers, people changing organisations, which typically prices above incumbent pay for the same seat. They are compiled from current public compensation data across Indian financial services and fintech (NASSCOM, LinkedIn Salary Insights, Glassdoor, AmbitionBox and published 2026 market guides) and cross-checked against our own search work. Figures are annual fixed compensation in INR lakhs. Bonus and long-term incentives vary too much across institutions to compress into a range, and we would rather show you less data than false precision. Ranges update as the market moves, not on a publishing calendar; the date at the top of each page is real. For the wider India technology market on a CTC basis, by role, city and employer type, see the wider-market sections of our compensation pillar guide.
